Afghanistan: Support for girls and women
In Afghanistan, following 40 years of war and the withdrawal of international forces in August 2021, the greatest humanitarian catastrophe of our time is unfolding. Almost all public supply structures have collapsed, and every second person in the country is suffering from hunger. 13 million children face a life-threatening situation if they receive no help. Since the crisis particularly affects innocent children as well as girls and women, we want to help. In the Afghan Women's Association in Hamburg, we have found an experienced partner that has been working in Afghanistan with around 200 local staff for over 30 years. Through its self-help projects, the organisation supports more than 100,000 people.
Brief project description
Help us finance five private schools of the Afghan Women's Association, thereby funding the education of more than 5,000 female students. We also wish to support seven mother-and-child clinics in very remote, rural regions. Each clinic treats up to 100 patients of all ages daily, assists with births, cares for newborns, monitors the nutritional status of young children, provides trauma work and ensures vaccinations and medical care in the event of illness. In two training sewing workshops, we can enable over 100 women per year to complete a tailoring qualification and support them in starting their own businesses. Help in Afghanistan is possible and is currently saving many lives. Thank you for your support. Further information can be found at: https://www.afghanischer-frauenverein.de
Planting forests in Germany
Germany's forests are struggling – climate change is already taking a significant toll. Monocultures have made them particularly vulnerable to climate change and pest infestations. We need to take action together. By planting healthy, climate-resilient mixed forests, we are making an important contribution to our future and that of our children.
Planting forests in Germany – with Planted
Planted has made it its mission to actively combat climate change by planting trees and offsetting emissions through global climate protection projects. The Cologne-based non-profit organisation plants resilient mixed forests rather than the spruce monocultures typical of Germany. These are significantly better equipped to withstand the effects of climate change than pure spruce stands. Internal climate forester Jan selects suitable tree species for each area and ensures that they are climate-resilient. This is intended to protect Germany's forests from the effects of climate change and make them more resilient in the long term. People benefit too: forests produce oxygen, store CO₂ and filter fine particulate matter. Further information at: https://www.planted.green/
Giving together fairly – edon is our partner
Donations and fundraising campaigns must be transparent and secure. That is why we would like to introduce our partner edon, whose technical know-how makes this initiative possible. edon – electronic donations was founded in August 2019 and is a social start-up. The company is a digital fundraising agency that develops CSR software for online shops. CSR stands for Corporate Social Responsibility and describes the social commitment of companies. Among other things, edon operates the FairGeben plug-in, which allows customers to round up the total amount of their shopping cart when shopping online and donate it to a charitable project – similar to a donation box at a bakery, but digital. Thank you for your donation! Your Morgenland team
