Fair & Sustainable
With every rug purchase, you are supporting social projects and sustainable production conditions.
How are our rugs produced?
People are at the heart of everything we do. This approach shapes all areas of our business – from the personal care we give our customers to our close collaboration with our knotters. It is only under fair conditions that sustainable business relationships develop, from which high-quality and unique products emerge. It is important to us that this valuable handwork is fairly remunerated. This is why our prices deliberately differ from machine-made goods. For us, sustainability is not a trend but a responsibility. We clearly distance ourselves from a throwaway culture.
Kid Care Network
Morgenland Rugs is committed to sustainable production, fair wages, safe working conditions and the protection of all employees. We strictly reject child labour. Our supply chains are regularly reviewed to ensure fair and transparent manufacturing processes. By acting responsibly, we not only safeguard the high quality of our products but also make a positive contribution to society and the environment. By purchasing a Morgenland rug, you are not only choosing the highest quality, but also fair and sustainable production conditions.
GoodWeave
Since 2009, GoodWeave has been successfully working to end exploitative child labour in the rug industry. The focus is on paying fair wages to rug knotters and upholding high social and environmental standards. The organisation is supported by renowned development organisations and ensures that rugs are produced under ethical and environmentally friendly conditions. Independent inspectors check production facilities regularly and without prior notice. Certified rugs give consumers confidence and assurance of responsible production. RUGMARK Foundation
RUGMARK is an initiative against the use of illegal child labour in the rug industry. It was established in 1994 by Indian rug manufacturers and exporters, as well as leading non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Its goal was to effectively combat child labour through targeted measures and inspections, while also creating sustainable solutions for workers, exporters and production regions. The RUGMARK system was developed in collaboration with UNICEF and the German-Indian Export Promotion Project (IGEP) of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ). Today, RUGMARK is a trademarked certification that guarantees importers and buyers that the rugs have been manufactured by companies committed to clearly defined standards and subject to an effective monitoring mechanism.
