Viscose is a fibre obtained from the cellulose fibres of bamboo, banana and various woods. Because of its chemical processing, viscose is classified as a synthetic fibre. The surface of viscose is reminiscent of silk and is extremely soft and velvety.
A viscose rug is distinguished by its understated elegance and graceful sheen. The fibres reflect the light and create a matt sheen that gives the rugs a special appearance.
Viscose rugs offer numerous advantages for allergy sufferers. They are hypoallergenic and trap less dust than many other materials. Thanks to their smooth surface, dust and allergens can be removed more easily, which makes for better air quality.
Regular vacuuming and airing of the rug are nevertheless important to minimise the build-up of allergens. Viscose rugs are therefore an excellent choice for people who are sensitive to dust and pet hair but still do not want to do without stylish floor coverings.
Viscose rugs stand out for a wide range of designs, from modern to classic. Their silky texture and sheen give every room a luxurious flair. Viscose rugs are available in a wide variety of colours and patterns, so there is something to suit every interior style. Whether geometric patterns, floral designs or simple plain models – the versatility of viscose rugs allows for individual and stylish interior design.
Viscose offers various designs and colours to beautify any room. The fibres are easy to dye, so there are no limits to the choice.
Whether classic white, bright turquoise or natural shades of grey, beige and cream – viscose rugs are available in a range of colour variations. There are also rugs with classic patterns, patchwork designs, oriental ornaments and vintage styles.
Viscose gives soft grey a metallic sheen and offers a wide range of shades, from delicate pastels to strong colours.
Viscose and wool have different properties. Viscose rugs are known for their silky sheen and smooth surface. They are soft, but less hard-wearing than wool. Wool, on the other hand, is a natural, resilient material that repels dirt and water better and is longer-lasting. While wool rugs offer natural warmth and robustness, viscose scores with a luxurious look and a pleasant feel underfoot.
Viscose rugs and cotton rugs also have different characteristics. Viscose has a lustrous, silky surface and feels softer than cotton. Cotton rugs, on the other hand, are more robust and easier to care for. They are particularly well suited to areas of heavy use. Viscose rugs, by contrast, are ideal for rooms where an elegant and luxurious look is desired. Cotton is also a breathable material, which makes it a good choice for warmer climates.
Caring for viscose rugs requires special attention. Before cleaning, check the direction of the fibres so that the rug is not damaged. For viscose rugs, it is advisable to use special attachments or a classic carpet nozzle.
Coarse dirt can be removed gently with a carpet sweeper. Vacuuming with a normal brush is not recommended.
For stains, ordinary washing-up liquid in cold water can be used. Add a small amount of it to the water and treat the stains carefully with a clean cloth.
If necessary, a mixture of white wine vinegar and water can also be used. After cleaning, the rug should be left to dry completely, as viscose is highly absorbent. Stubborn dirt can be removed by professional rug cleaning.
They are ideal for living rooms and bedrooms. Their stylish sheen and velvety softness make them a special highlight in any room. Whether as a statement piece that defines the room or as a luxurious bedside rug, viscose rugs give every room an exclusive flair and provide comfort. Especially in grey and pastel shades, they show off living room furniture and create a unique atmosphere.
Viscose rugs are made of a synthetic fibre called viscose, which is produced as a substitute for silk. This fibre is made from a combination of wood, cotton and banana leaves. Visually, viscose closely resembles silk, which is why it is difficult to tell them apart with the naked eye.
Viscose rugs differ from other types of rug mainly in their unique texture and sheen. Viscose, also known as artificial silk, has a silky, lustrous surface that reflects light in a special way and gives rooms a luxurious look. Compared with other materials such as wool or cotton, viscose rugs are softer and finer to the touch. They are particularly suitable for low-traffic areas where appearance comes first. Another difference lies in the care: viscose rugs require more careful handling and are more sensitive to moisture and heavy pressure.
