Olive Green Rugs

Olive green is a muted, natural green with a warm undertone. Our olive green rugs are mainly Oriental rugs, above all Ziegler and Tabriz, plus some modern designs.

Olive green rugs in the room

Olive green looks earthy, calm and solid. The colour recalls olive groves, moss and sage and combines the freshness of green with the warmth of brown. An olive green rug therefore goes particularly well with wood, leather and natural fabrics and gives rooms a relaxed, homely atmosphere.

In the hallway

Almost one in five olive green rugs is a runner, many of them two to three metres long. In the hallway, the muted green looks inviting and hides everyday marks well. With light walls and wooden floors, it creates a natural, calm impression. Our hallway rugs show runners in many more colours and lengths.

In the living room

In the living room, olive green harmonises with sofas in cognac, cream or grey and with furniture in oak or walnut. Large sizes such as 250 x 350 cm or 250 x 300 cm take in the whole seating group, while 150 x 200 cm fits smaller rooms. Our living room rugs provide more ideas.

Which olive green rugs does Morgenland offer?

Around three quarters of our olive green rugs are Oriental rugs, and the rest are woven rugs with Oriental patterns and a few modern designs. Just under half come from Persia, just under two fifths from Afghanistan, and individual pieces from India and China. Most are hand-knotted.

Ziegler rugs

Almost a third of the designs are Ziegler rugs. Olive green is a classic ground colour here, on which generous tendrils and blossoms in cream, rust and gold are set. The muted colours make Ziegler rugs ideal companions for modern and classic interiors alike.

Tabriz and silk

A fifth of the olive green rugs are Tabriz rugs in the 50 Raj quality with finely drawn medallions. A striking number of designs contain silk, which makes outlines and blossoms shine. We show rugs in which silk plays an even greater role under Silk Rugs.

Sizes and shapes

Just under four in five olive green rugs are rectangular, almost one in five is a runner, and there are a few square designs. Common sizes are 100 x 150 cm, 120 x 180 cm and 150 x 200 cm, as well as the large sizes from 250 x 300 cm.

Which colours go with olive green?

  • Cream and linen for a light, natural setting.
  • Rust and terracotta as warm, earthy partners.
  • Mustard yellow and ochre for a lively autumn look.
  • Dusky pink as a surprisingly soft contrast.
  • Cognac leather and dark wood.

Frequently asked questions about olive green rugs

Does olive green look old-fashioned?

Quite the opposite: olive green is one of the sought-after colours in modern interiors, because it looks natural and calm. With clean-lined furniture, light walls and plants, it creates a fresh, contemporary look.

What are woven Oriental rugs?

Woven Oriental rugs are made on a loom and take up classic patterns. They are lighter and thinner than hand-knotted rugs and suit rooms where an Oriental pattern is wanted but the rug should lie flat, for example under doors or chairs.

Does olive green go with a red Persian rug in the same room?

Yes, green and red complement each other as complementary colours. An olive green runner in the hallway and a red Persian rug in the living room look deliberately coordinated, especially if both rugs have similar cream or gold tones in the pattern.

Are there also darker shades of green?

Yes. The dark green rugs show deeper, rich shades of green, and the light green rugs lighter and fresher ones.
