Light green rugs in the room

Light green brings nature into the home. The colour recalls young leaves and fresh grass and livens up light rooms without overloading them. A light green rug goes with wood, rattan and linen just as well as with white and grey, and it brings a fresh, optimistic mood in every season.

In the kitchen and hallway

Our light green rugs are especially often found in kitchens and hallways. One in five is a runner, many of them up to two or three metres long, and there are also small sizes such as 60 x 90 cm for the spot in front of the sink or front door. You will find more designs for the kitchen under Kitchen Rugs, and long runners among the hallway rugs.

In the living room and bedroom

In the living room, a light green rug adds a fresh accent to sofas in white, beige or grey. In the bedroom, the colour feels calming and friendly, especially with bed linen in white or sage. Sizes such as 170 x 240 cm or 200 x 300 cm suit both rooms.

Which light green rugs does Morgenland offer?

Almost all our light green rugs are hand-knotted. A third come from Afghanistan, just under a third from Persia, a quarter from India and a few from Pakistan. Just under two thirds show classic patterns, and a good third have a modern design. The classic designs are Oriental rugs such as Kazak and Ziegler, and the modern ones are mainly designer, Nepal and Berber rugs.

Kazak rugs

Kazak rugs make up the largest share. They take up the bold, geometric patterns of Caucasian village rugs, with large medallions, stars and hook motifs. In light green, these patterns look particularly lively and fresh. Overall, a good two in five light green rugs feature a medallion.

Ziegler and designer rugs

Ziegler rugs with generous tendrils in muted shades of green look calmer. Designer rugs, by contrast, show light green in abstract shapes and modern compositions. They are joined by individual Nain and Nepal rugs as well as some older pieces of 25 years and more, whose colours have softened over time.

Sizes and shapes

Just under three quarters of the light green rugs are rectangular, one in five is a runner, and there are a few square and round designs. Common sizes are 60 x 90 cm, 100 x 150 cm, 170 x 240 cm and 200 x 300 cm. Small rugs in light green also work well as a colourful accent outside the bathroom or in a cloakroom.

Which colours go with light green?

  • White and cream for a fresh, light room.
  • Pink and coral as a cheerful contrast.
  • Natural wood, rattan and bamboo for a natural effect.
  • Yellow in small doses for a summery look.
  • Grey and concrete, which complement the freshness in a modern way.

Frequently asked questions about light green rugs

Does a light green rug go with lots of plants?

Very well. Light green picks up the colour of the leaves and links rug and plants into a harmonious picture. So that the room does not look too green, walls and furniture should stay rather light and neutral.

What is a Kazak rug?

Kazak rugs go back to village rugs from the Caucasus. Typical features are large geometric shapes, strong colours and a rather robust, firm wool pile. Today they are knotted mainly in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Are there also more muted shades of green?

Yes. You will find muted, earthy shades of green among the olive green rugs, and delicate, cool tones among the mint green rugs.

We show all shades of green together under Green Rugs.
